ギャラリー雅堂だより 2025年11月 「本荘正彦」

 

 今月の作品は本荘正彦の胡蝶蘭をモチーフにした新旧の二作です。印象は違いますがどちらの作品からも背景が語りかけてくる物語りや音楽を感じます。

9月号でお知らせしたようにギャラリーの限られた壁面ですが本荘正彦の作品コーナーも整いました。

着想を元に原画を完成させるクリエイティブな仕事から始まり、自刻自摺で膨大な作業を積み重ねた末に作品は出来上がります。それを切れ目なく続けて新作を生み続けることは容易なことではありません。

そんな本荘正彦の作品が季刊「版画芸術」の目にとまり、2005年秋号で特集されました。

ネットの画像や本でご覧になった後はぜひギャラリーで実際の作品の持つ和紙の温かさに触れていただきたいと思っています。

“Masahiko Honjo”

This month, we are delighted to present two works by Masahiko Honjo, both inspired by the graceful motif of Phalaenopsis orchids—one from his earlier period and one more recent. Though their impressions differ, each conveys a quiet story and rhythm that seem to emerge from the background itself.

As mentioned in our September newsletter, we have now dedicated a section of our limited gallery wall space to showcase Honjo’s art.

Each of his works begins with a spark of inspiration that takes shape as an original painting, followed by the meticulous process of self-carving and self-printing—a true labor of devotion. To continue creating new works through such demanding craftsmanship requires exceptional perseverance and passion.

Honjo’s achievements drew the attention of the quarterly magazine Hanga Geijutsu (Print Art), which featured his work in its Autumn 2005 issue.

After viewing his works online or in publications, we warmly invite you to visit our gallery and experience in person the gentle warmth and texture of handmade washi paper—something that cannot be fully captured in images.
